A classic, savory, and sweet Chinese-inspired stir-fry featuring tender chicken thighs and crisp-tender broccoli in a glossy sauce.
1 large head of Broccoli (cut into florets)
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1½ lbs skinless, boneless chicken thighs (cut into bite sized pieces)
3 cloves garlic (peeled and finely chopped)
3 green/spring onions (trimmed and sliced)
1 inch piece of ginger (peeled and chopped)
2 Tablespoons Hoisin Sauce (or oyster sauce for less sweetness)
3 Tablespoons light soy sauce (extra to taste)
6 Tablespoons honey (approximately)
6 Tablespoons hot water
1.Steam or sauté the broccoli to the desired firmness and set aside.
2.Heat a wok over high heat with a bit of oil and brown the chicken on all sides; remove and set aside.
3.Fry garlic, spring onion, and ginger for 30 seconds.
4.Return chicken to the wok and add soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and hot water, bringing to a boil.
5.Drizzle with honey, cover, and simmer for 7-10 minutes until chicken is cooked through and sauce is reduced.
6.Add broccoli back into the wok and toss to coat thoroughly.
Adjust honey to personal sweetness preference.
Use oyster sauce if you prefer a less sweet profile.
Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
Serve immediately with steamed rice.
