Tender shredded chicken slow-cooked in a rich, flavorful, and completely homemade smoky barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup ketchup

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1.Place chicken breasts in a 6-quart slow cooker.

2.Whisk ketchup, vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire, and spices in a bowl.

3.Pour the sauce over the chicken.

4.Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.

5.Remove chicken, shred with two forks, and return to the pot.

6.Stir to coat and serve hot.

Notes

Adjust sugar and vinegar to reach desired sweetness/tanginess.

Chicken breasts should reach 165°F internally.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Freezes well for up to 2 months.

Simmer sauce on the stove if you prefer a thicker consistency.
